When designing several members in one design case, it is sometimes difficult to recognize the governing design checks. To improve the overview and to display the relevant design checks in a compact way, you can use the filter options under the result tables. These are included in all design modules of steel, aluminum, and timber structures in RFEM and RSTAB.
You can assign comments to each element in RFEM and RSTAB (structure element, load element, and so on). This can help to improve the overview and documentation of structures, as the comments appear in the printout report and, for example, certain objects can be filtered and displayed using the "Select Special" function.
In many cases, it is necessary to filter the results for the display of values on surfaces so as not to show all the numbers. In displaying the reinforcement arrangement, you can, for example, hide values that are below the already used basic reinforcement.
The "Filter" option in the cross‑section library allows you to show only cross‑sections of certain standards, shapes, or types. In the same window, you can also select the material.
If you read out the results of a surface by means of the COM interface, you get a one-dimensional field with all results at the FE nodes or grid points. To get the results on the edge of a surface or along a line within the surfaces, you have to filter out the results in the area of the line. The following article describes a function for this step.
As of the program version X.11, the filter options of small compression forces or moments for stability analysis in RF‑/STEEL EC3 have been revised. The revision of these filter options in the "Stability" tab of the "Details" dialog box allows you to work in the module transparently, since they are now independent of the design.
A successful project process involves not only the building owner and the engineer, but also the designers. These days, they also have to design standard connections in steel structures themselves. To do this, the corresponding internal forces of connections are required.
The result window of the cross-section properties can be adjusted individually using the [Filter] button in the table menu bar. You can then activate or deactivate the individual cross-section parameters in the dialog box.
In order to reduce the number of pages in a printout report or to obtain shorter and clearer result tables, you can use filters for the printout report tables using individual detailed settings.
As of version X.04.0096, RF‑/TIMBER Pro also allows you to design other material categories such as softwood, hardwood, and glulam timber as a member in compliance with EN 1995‑1‑1. The design spectrum has been expanded for the material categories LVL, Plywood, OSB, Particleboard, and Fiberboard. In order to facilitate the selection in the materials library, there is another function for targeted filtering by plate or wall stress.
In RF-CONCRETE Surfaces, you can use the "Filter Points" function when evaluating results by points. This filter function allows for a user-defined group of points that can be defined in the result window. You can select the filter in Window 2.3 Required Reinforcement by Points, among others.
